Don Imus does it again

In an on air conversation about pro football player, Adam 'Pacman' Jones, Don Imus says that Jones' criminal record is explained by his being African American.

Last year, Imus was fired for making racist remarks about the Rutger's womens basketball team.

While the remarks by Imus are enough in themselves to begin conversation about racism in our country, I was most struck by the comments online from those who read and listened to the remarks. While a small few suggested having a reasonable discussion through the online forum and some others brought out reason and logic to explain Imus' comments - most of the online posters simply fed into the racism and questioned how anyone could possibly disagree or think Imus out of line- condemning Jones and all African Americans together.

Reading online comments such as these makes me question the progress of acceptance in our country.

I saw this yesterday and felt a kind of vindication based on people who downplayed what he said before... It is terribly sad that he feels so entitled to make judgments about entire populations of people and proclaim them as truth. He really is a despicable human being.

I am amazed that Don Imus continues to be hired by Media Execs as a host despite such offensive/ambigious remarks (however you feel about this). There is so much talent around, so then why do we keep listening to tired, out-of-touch, and uneducated hosts. People should stop listening to these shows and make a statement.

i like unicorns. but like social justice... they only appear in my dreams.
