Examining America's increasing multi-racial population

the following article appeared in the nytimes this weekend...

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/31/us/politics/31race.html?hp

It speaks to the increasing numbers of multi-racial Americans, but also has a great video embedded in it that features a student group at Rutgers called Fusion, which is a support group for multi-racial students to speak about their multiple identities and how it has impacted them and been interpreted by others.

Check it out if you have the chance!

We actually discussed this article in my cross-cultural counseling class yesterday. We had a very lively discussion about the question Ms. Van Kerckhove posed, “Are multiracial people trying to be multiracial as a way to escape racism?” I am curious as to what people's thoughts are about this.

i like unicorns. but like social justice... they only appear in my dreams.
