"The Cool Rich Kids"

One of my favorite non-profits is the NYC based organization, Resource Generation. If you have read Billy Wimsatt's (Bomb The Suburbs, No More Prisons) work, you will know of them as "The Cool Rich Kids". When I worked at Young People For The American Way, I had the opportunity to work with their amazing staff and learn more about their work. Resource Generation is a national non-profit that engages young people with financial wealth to help them use their power and privilege to make positive social change. Resource Generation challenges and supports their members to help them manage their resources in conscious, sustainable, strategic, and creative ways. Resource Generation would be an amazing organization for us to invite to host programs at NYU. They have some amazing publications out there available for the public to order. My favorite, Classified: How To Stop Hiding Your Privilege and Use It engages young people with fiscal resources through comics, activities, and stories. Through a social justice based framework,Classified encourages youth of privilege to be intentional, strategic, and progressive about their management of resources.
