Hi Folks,
In the fall some of the professional staff in the Res.Ed. department got together to discuss the issue of bias incidents on a national level. This discussion came in the wake of the Jena controversy and the noose incident at Columbia University. We selected the following articles (thank you to Katrina Lee) to discuss incidents all around the country. Take a look at any or all of these brief articles if you did not attend the session or if you are interested in current social justice issues.
NY Times on Jena Six
Swastika Crimes in Manhattan
Racial Violence in Miami
"Copy-cat" Noose Incidents
Editorial on Noose Incidents
What is an "appropriate" reaction?
